There are numerous internet sites that require payment to search or provide information about sex offenders in your neighborhood.

Here are two free resources

Family Watchdog
Allows you to search by zip code. Displays a map of your neighborhood with sex offenders (and other related offenders) indicated by location. Clicking on each offender link displays additional information and photo. Also let's you sign up for e-mail alerts that will notify you if a registered sex offender moves near you.

Virginia State Police Database
Direct link to the Commonwalth's Sex Offender and Crimes Against Minors Registry. You can search by location or name. Includes details on each offender as well as photos. Searchable by County.
